Following the swinging and popular course of Girl Groups Part 1, we dive into the next wave
of finger- snapping Girl Group sounds. Featured artists will include: The Shirelles, Brenda Lee, Annette Funicello, The Marvelettes, The Cookies, The Chiffons, The Crystals, Darlene Love, Dee Dee Sharp, The Ronettes, Lesley Gore, Dionne Warwick, The Dixie Cups, The Shangri-La’s, The Supremes, Nancy Sinatra, and more! We will also focus on some of the songwriters & producers of the sound, such as Phil Spector, Carol King, Ellie Greenwich, George “Shadow” Morton, and others! Join us for these great sounds—it should be a blast!

Gary Carlson, retired Professor of English at Norwalk Community College, has created and taught a wide variety of courses on writing, literature, film, and pop culture. A published writer of fiction, non-fiction, including film, theatre, and music criticism, Carlson also hosted several local radio programs on music history and was the founder and host of NCC’s long-running “Movies-of-the-Month” Film Series.
