Smile: It’s Opera

We view and listen to selections from a variety of operas from the 17th century to the 21st century. We encourage the expression of personal opinions, both likes and dislikes.
- Week 1: In love with opera — featuring love duets
- Week 2: Sheep in wolves’ clothing — when women sing men’s roles
- Week 3: Crazy about opera — famous mad scenes
- Week 4: All together now — opera choruses
- Weeks 5 and 6: To be decided by the class
Jeffrey A. Lowin has been a fan of opera, with over 70 years of listening to and attending performances of over 200 operas worldwide, in addition to many hours of sound, TV and online recordings. He is currently working with the Stamford Public Library on a program devoted to Verdi and Il Risorgimento in Italy.
