The 19th century was a period of great turmoil. It gave rise to a new era of art, with a new view of the world. Art could now move away from heavy dark religious themes. The explorations of Greece and Turkey brought the art of the current world and ancient world together. Emphasis on the past faded, as artistic themes became more focused on the beauty of man and love for life.
