Dutch Masters capture the ethos and lifestyle of the newly freed Dutch from the yoke of the Spaniards. The reformation brought a new point of view regarding religion and its practice. The region broke into two distinct groups and styles of art – Protestant and Catholic.

  • Week 1: Roots -Dutch Baroque: Catholic versus Protestant
  • Week 2: Rembrandt
  • Week 3: Rembrandt
  • Week 4: Halls
  • Week 5: Vermeer, de Hooch

Darby Cartun earned a BS from Syracuse University and an MAT from Sacred Heart University. She is a passionate lover of the arts with a desire to share ideas and theories. Darby is also the founder of the program Museum Comes to You, which serves senior centers, men’s and women’s groups and assisted living residences in Connecticut and New York. After 20 years of broadcasting, she retired from her radio talk show, Darby and Friends. She is currently developing podcasts May contain material covered in previous classes.
