Introduction to Acrylic Painting – Exploring Nature

Acrylic painting is a modern medium that allows an artist the freedom to create with speed, experimentation and color vibrancy. This paint is versatile with most water-based media and provides watercolor and oil-like qualities. This course provides the fundamental techniques needed for your own creative expression.
Materials required: Acrylic paints, brushes and canvas
- Week 1: Creating a small painting
- Week 2: Getting familiar with acrylic paints, color studies
- Week 3: Exploring mark-making and layering
- Week 4: Finding inspiration in nature, creating backgrounds
- Week 5: Creating a composition using prepared background
- Week 6: Painting values
New Instructor – Pari Pfenninger is an established fine artist and art educator. She completed her MFA in painting at Western Connecticut State University in 2015 and has exhibited in galleries for juried shows in New York City and Connecticut. Recently, Pari won the People’s Choice Award from the Milford Arts Council. She has completed two judicial oil portraits for Brooklyn’s Kings County courthouse. Pari currently teaches privately and offers workshops at the Museum of Contemporary Art CT. Her expanding body of artwork on paper and canvas includes mixed media, oil and drawings.
