Every week brings surprises as we view works of contemporary and historic ballet and modern dance and examine their creators, historical periods and the performers who have brought these pieces to life. The course schedule is flexible, and includes rare videos shared by the instructor.
Facilitator: Felice Lesser
Felice Lesser earned a BA from Barnard College and an MA from Columbia University. She has been seen at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, The Duke on 42nd Street, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Baryshnikov Arts Center and the 1991 Tokyo International Choreography Competition. She won the Lawrence S. Epstein Prize for Choreography, and was one of three playwrights chosen for New Perspectives Theatre’s 2013 Women’s Work Project. Her dance and video work, "AI" (from Lightning) was featured at the 2019 Carson City (Nevada) International Film Weekend. Most recently, her company, Felice Lesser Dance Theater, premiered her post-apocalyptic multi-media space fantasy, TRAP IST, at NY Live Arts. Lesser is currently an Adjunct Professor of Dance at the University of Connecticut Stamford, and an Artist-in-Residence for the state of Nevada.
